Our Story

Hidden Hills Tea: A Legacy of Excellence
We proudly bring to the world a unique single estate handmade Ceylon tea.

History of Ceylon Tea
Tea was introduced to Ceylon by James Taylor in 1876. Tea plantations started from central hills and spread to high, mid, and low elevation, giving it a distinctive flavour profile in each elevation.

Hidden Hills Origins
Hidden Hills was established in 1985. Our tea estate is nestled in the ancient kingdom of Seetwaka. Elevation is 800ft-1400ft above sea level, overlooking the lush Seetawaka mountain range. It borders natural forest, which is home to many species of wildlife, flora, and fauna with an abundance of natural spring water.

Our Objective
Our objective is to produce the best quality handmade Ceylon tea with a unique taste and aroma. Experienced tea pickers collect two leaves and a bud, the best part of the tender green leaf, high in anti-oxidants and polyphenols, attributing to its many benefits.

Green Leaf Standard
Our green leaf standard involves only tender two leaves and a bud, collected for natural withering within one hour of picking. Withered tea leaves are hand-rolled to obtain the twist, which brings about the mixing of desired natural compounds. Rolled leaf is fermented/cooled under natural conditions and dried at the lowest possible temperature to retain natural compounds and flavanols.
